Case Background
Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) protects the public by conducting criminal investigations of illegal activities involving FDA-regulated products, arresting those responsible, and bringing them before the Department of Justice for prosecution.
OCI’s current investigative case management system is based on an antiquated fat-client architecture. Critical features of the application were organically added to the system over time resulting in several design compromises and a system that does not meet the needs of FDA anymore.
Implementation Overview
Scope IT was asked to lead the technical implementation of the system. The system manages criminal investigative case information, provides a decision-making tool to conduct investigative analysis, generates investigative and administrative statistical and summary data, automates business processes and approval workflows, with enhanced system security to better protect sensitive law enforcement data.
Results
With Scope IT’s assistance, FDA is well positioned to manage its investigative case load with a modern platform increasing efficiency of its operations.
